Downtown Detroit Hotels

Detroit's Rising Star

Located in the heart of downtown, Cambria Hotel Detroit blends modern luxury with historic character. Set within the iconic Walker-Roehrig Building, designed by Albert Kahn, the property delivers a refined stay shaped by thoughtful design, elevated service, and the energy of the city.
History
The Walker-Roehrig Building, once home to Detroit’s iconic WWJ Radio, boasts a rich history intertwined with the city’s cultural and architectural legacy. Designed by renowned architect Albert Kahn, this historic building opened in 1936 at the corner of Lafayette Boulevard and Third Street, serving as the original studio for WWJ-AM. Throughout the hotel, you’ll find thoughtful nods to its storied past, honoring its deep roots in Detroit’s history.
Architectural Design
Designed by the renowned Albert Kahn, this building stands as a remarkable example of his pioneering influence on early 20th-century industrial architecture. Its towering 70-foot Indiana limestone facade quickly became a defining feature of Detroit’s skyline, marking it as a true architectural landmark. Today, the building’s grandeur and historical significance remain preserved, recognized as one of the city’s most iconic structures.
Art Deco Ambiance
Meticulously restored to honor its iconic geometric lines and sleek detailing, the building blends vintage character with modern design. Inspired by the bold symmetry of the Art Deco era, its architectural elements have been thoughtfully preserved and reimagined throughout. Rich materials and clean lines create a space that feels both timeless and contemporary, offering a refined experience rooted in Detroit’s design legacy.

We stayed here in late-October 2025 in tandem with attending a Red Wings hockey game and their pregame party. Our room was great, clean, comfortable and quiet with a nice view. The staff that we met were all wonderfully friendly and helpful. The lobby was beautiful! I would definitely recommend this wonderful hotel!

The Cambria is great! I stayed there to attend a Red Wings game at Little Caesars Arena with some buddies. The walk was just under a mile and easy. It looks and feels luxurious. I can't say enough about how friendly the staff is. They made us feel like friends.

Our stay at the hotel was top notch from the time we got out of the car until we left. Monty at the front desk was kind and helpful, the valet staff of Natoya and her coworkers were too! The hotel itself is beautiful, in a good location, and the games and bar downstairs was super fun! I wish we would have had time to try the restaurants but will hopefully get back again in the future!

This is a very beautiful clean property. Large rooms, lovely decor, very comfortable beds. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel. It just 6 minutes walk from Rosa Park Transit terminal, in case if you are not driving a car. Conveniently located in downtown area. The hotel has a restaurant and a lounge/bar. It's lobby is stunning.
